Ending Youth Homelessness: New Initiatives in San Francisco and Alameda Counties

May 12th @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

Experiencing homelessness carries significant long-term consequences — for young people and for the communities and systems that serve them. San Francisco and Alameda Counties have both been advancing efforts to transform their systems to be more proactive in identifying youth at risk of homelessness and connect them with the services they need before they are in crisis, and to make sure there are resources available to young people if they are pushed into homelessness. Evidence-based prevention models that work for adults frequently fail to reach at-risk youth, and often fail to offer the right services when they do.

All Home and Larkin Street Youth Services will share updates on their project to advance youth-focused homelessness prevention priorities in San Francisco, and Alameda County Housing & Homelessness Services will describe what they have learned from their Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program and how they are working to increase services for young people experiencing and at risk of homelessness in the county.
