Are you an East Bay Housing Organizations member who is passionate about housing justice? Do you want to learn more about EBHO, nonprofit governance, and the housing justice movement alongside a great group of colleagues? If so, then you may be a good fit for our Board of Directors!

A nonprofit Board of Directors is the governing body of an organization. EBHO Board Members help to determine our priorities and high-level strategy and hold the organization accountable to our goals.

For more information, read the Board expectations and commitments and come to our optional (but encouraged) virtual Q&A session with our Interim Co-Directors and current EBHO Board Members on Tuesday, September 19th from 5:30–6:30 PM. Please RSVP by emailing us at

Applications are due on Friday, September 29th by 5 PM.

Who should apply?

We invite all active, dues-paying EBHO members to apply for the Board. (Please note: we do not accept applications from our current funding partners or sitting elected officials to avoid conflicts of interest.)

For 2024 we are particularly interested in applicants with any of the following:

  • Lived experience living in affordable or public housing, housing instability, or homelessness
  • Background and expertise in architecture
  • Background and expertise in legal services and aid
