Thank you for attending our Annual Membership Meeting & Celebration!

Thank you to all 140+ EBHO members and supporters who gathered with us in Oakland on November 12th to celebrate our advocacy efforts in 2025 and vote on our 2026 Board of Directors!

Our Annual Membership Meeting & Celebration was a powerful reminder of the challenging times we are facing, and that we do not have to face them alone.

I had the privilege of co-emceeing our Membership Meeting with EBHO’s Board Vice President, Lauline Mitchell, and I shared a quote during my remarks by the Black, lesbian, intersectional feminist, poet, and civil rights activist, Audre Lorde:

“When I dare to be powerful — to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.”

EBHO’s vision is for a racially and economically just East Bay where we all have a safe, stable, and affordable home. As we move into this season of giving, gratitude, and community care, I invite you to recognize our collective power and dare to be powerful together towards this vision.

Join us as an Individual and/or Organizational member for the 2026 calendar year and help fuel our movement to protect, preserve, and produce opportunities for low-income communities throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Please also consider doubling your impact by donating to our $41,000 matching campaign!

With deep appreciation,
— Kiki Poe, Chief Operating Officer

Thank you from Team EBHO!

Residents, developers, architects, contractors, funders, and community supporters of affordable housing all came together to reflect on our wins of the year and look ahead to 2026.

Meet Our New Board of Directors

During our event, we voted to elect this year’s slate of new Board Members who will bring a wealth of knowledge and experiences to EBHO leadership. Congratulations to Evita Chávez and Diana Orozco, East Bay Housing Organizations’ newly elected Board Members!

Additionally, Cathy Eberhardt and Aubra Levine were re-elected to their second terms on the Board.

We also said farewell and honored two Board members at the end of their service: Board Secretary Angela Upshaw, who termed off after completing six years of service on our Board, and Christina Mun, who stepped down earlier this year after being appointed Deputy Secretary of Housing Finance at the California Business, Consumer Services, and Housing Agency.

Thank you to all Board Members past and present for your service!

Former Board Member, Christina Mun, and soon-to-be Former Board Member, Angela Upshaw.

Program Highlights

We are incredibly proud of the impact of the EBHO team and community across the East Bay.  EBHO’s Senior Policy Associate, Joey Flegel-Mishlove, provided an overview of our collective work from 2025.

Together with our partners and members, we hosted over 30 Affordable Housing Month events and welcomed hundreds of people across Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

Our Executive Director, Lindsay Haddix, and EBHO were featured in several stories in local and national news outlets, including the Wall Street JournalNBC, and SF Business Times, addressing the major shift in funding for local affordable housing efforts.

Shifting to some of our Policy Work, at the State level, we wrote 35 letters regarding 22 bills, plus signed on to coalition letters regarding 11 additional bills or issues.

Our Organizing Team also graduated 11 community members in the newest cohort of our Leadership Academy program, congratulations class of 2025!

This is only a snapshot of some of our work. Keep an eye out next year for our full 2025 impact report!
