On behalf of East Bay Housing Organizations (EBHO) and our co-hosts the Multi-Faith ACTION Coalition (MFAC), and the Faith Alliance for a Moral Economy (FAME), I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended or supported our Faith & Justice Breakfast: Building Community with Faith-Rooted Action event last week.
Nearly 100 community members joined us at the beautiful Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church in Walnut Creek for a delicious meal and several engaging conversations about community-building and taking action for justice. To our attendees and community members, I hope the connections you made and the ideas you shared at our Breakfast will continue to resonate and inspire action.
Special thanks to our guest speakers and panelists, whose thoughtful contributions helped illuminate how faith-rooted communities can play a pivotal role in building equitable housing strategies. Thank you to Rev. Leslie Takahashi, Supervisor Shanelle Scales-Preston, Vice Mayor Laura Nakamura, Rev. Jeremy McCants, Ali Saidi, Mariana Moore, Rev. Millie Phillips, and Davina Srioudom for your time and words of encouragement.
Visit MFAC’s website to view all of the resources and materials shared during our program. If you would like to get more information about MFAC and their work, please contact Greg Colley at greg@multifaithactioncoalition.org. If you would like more information about FAME please contact Rev. Jeremy McCants at jeremy@workingeastbay.org (for Alameda County) or Rev. Millie Phillips at millie@workingeastbay.org (for Contra Costa County).
Our Faith & Justice Breakfasts have been a key event for EBHO and our community over many years, and we have been honored to offer a space for fellowship, community and justice-seeking together. At this time, because of reduced staff capacity, the Breakfast is going to be paused, and our Faith & Justice activities will look different next year. Thank you for being with us on this journey of exploring the intersection of faith and justice, and we hope that you will continue on with us into the future.
With appreciation,
— Rev. Sophia DeWitt, Chief Program Officer
