Join us for a lunch & learn webinar on Wednesday January 18th at noon where we will explore solutions to Contra Costa County’s highest-in-the-region eviction rate and largest increase in homelessness.
A recent report released by the East Bay Alliance for a Sustainable Economy (EBASE) in December documents how the inequitable court system in this county with the lack of legal services and tenant support results in unjust evictions, disproportionately impacting vulnerable and low-income communities of color. The report also makes specific, proven policy recommendations that can reverse Contra Costa County’s accelerating increase in homelessness by making eviction proceedings more balanced, transparent, and just.
This webinar will explore these solutions from the report and share the successes that other jurisdictions have had in intervening early to prevent evictions and reduce homelessness. It will be hosted by Mariana Moore, Executive Director of the Ensuring Opportunity Campaign, with opening remarks by California State Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (District 15). The panelists include policy makers, housing experts, and tenant advocates.
