Each May, East Bay Housing Organizations joins our partners across the Bay Area to host Affordable Housing Month.
Affordable Housing Month is an opportunity to come together to build support for affordable housing and racial justice and to educate each other on how affordable housing benefits us all. We are the proud conveners of Affordable Housing Month for Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
There are several key ways for you to participate and support Affordable Housing Month in the East Bay: joining us in Oakland on May 6th for our AHM Kickoff Celebration, hosting or attending an event, and becoming a sponsor.
See below and check back soon for more information on each of these opportunities and more!

2026 Affordable Housing Heroes

Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas represents the District 5 communities of Albany, Berkeley, Emeryville, Piedmont, West Oakland, North Oakland and portions of the lower and upper Oakland Hills. Since joining the Board of Supervisors in January 2025, she has championed immigrant and refugee rights, housing solutions, early childhood education, and equitable access to healthcare.
In 2025, Supervisor Fortunato Bas was integral to helping EBHO and our partners secure a historic investment of more than $1.4 billion to homelessness solutions—the largest commitment the County has ever made to address homelessness.

Housing California is a statewide coalition that brings together a diverse, multi-sector network to prevent and end homelessness, increase the supply of safe, stable, affordable housing options, and reverse the legacy of racial and economic injustice by building power among the people most impacted by housing injustice, shaping the narrative, and advocating for statewide policy solutions.
Through our strong partnership with Housing California’s Residents United Network (RUN) program, EBHO and our East Bay leaders have taken powerful action to make sure that our State Representatives vote for affordable housing. Housing California is leading the statewide housing agenda with Roadmap Home 2030, a bold, long-term plan to create the future we want for California by building affordable homes, protecting low-income renters, ending homelessness, and advancing racial equity and economic inclusion.
