League of Women Voters: Oakland City Hall Candidate Forum

October 5th @ 10:00 am 2:30 pm

Join the League of Women Voters to learn more about the candidates running this November, including their priorities, policies, and ideas for improving life in Oakland. The candidates will answer questions posed by a moderator that are both prepared in advance and taken from the audience. The League of Women Voters always invites all eligible candidates in each race to participate.

Please note registration is not required. The forums are free and open to the public. RSVPing gives you the chance to save the event to your calendar,  and receive reminders and a notice of any changes to the schedule.

The candidate forums will be televised by KTOP, Oakland’s cable access station, and live streamed on the City’s website. To view the televised forums:

  • Tune in to KTOP channel 10 on Xfinity Comcast or channel 99 on AT&T U-verse
  • Watch it streaming online at http://oaklandca.gov/oakmtg

The forums will also be recorded and can be viewed later on the League of Women Voters of Oakland’s website or YouTube channel.

Visitors to Oakland City Hall are encouraged to use active transportation (walking and biking) or transit (BART trains and AC Transit buses). City Hall is at the 12th Street BART stop. For those who drive, parking is available in the Dalziel Garage, located in the basement of 250 Frank Ogawa Plaza; access from 16th St between Clay St and San Pablo Ave.

As a non-partisan organization, the League has a proud history of conducting forums that are fair, balanced and provide equal time to all candidates. Unlike a debate, where candidates interact with each other through rebuttals, a forum allows a larger number of candidates to participate by responding to questions posed by a moderator. Forums offer the public access in an impartial setting to learn about candidates, and in turn, educate candidates about key community issues.
