Join Care 4 Community Action to talk with your Oakland neighbors about Measure V, Measure Q & Measure U!
Care 4 Community Action is supporting 3 housing justice ballot measures that, if passed, would make a huge impact on the homelessness and housing affordability crisis:
- Measure V would expand Just Cause eviction protections to prevent Oakland residents from losing their homes
- Measure Q, would exempt Oakland from Article 34, a racist statewide law that was passed almost a hundred years ago, that bans the construction of low-income, deeply affordable housing unless neighborhoods vote to allow it by a 2/3 vote. Article 34 was intended to keep neighborhoods segregated and prevent Black people from accessing quality housing. Measure Q would get Oakland out from under this racist law and would authorize the construction of up to 13,000 deeply affordable low-income housing units in the City.
- Measure U is an infrastructure bond that would actually fund building that affordable housing that Measure Q would legalize. Basically, we need Measure Q to make it legal to build affordable housing, and we need Measure U to provide the funds to actually build it.
