That’s a wrap on our 40th Anniversary Annual Membership Meeting & Celebration!
Last Wednesday, over 130 EBHO members and supporters celebrated four decades of housing justice advocacy in the East Bay and elected four new members to our Board of Directors.
Read on for highlights from the event and to watch the final installments of our 40 Years, 40 Voices video series, including the full compilation of all 40 videos we collected, which premiered at our Annual Membership Meeting & Celebration last week!
Our Powerful Legacy, Powerful Future was evident by the large number of first-time attendees sitting alongside the many long-term members in the room.
Thank you again to all those who attended, and to those who couldn’t make it, we hope to see you soon in the New Year. I am so grateful for this community!
Event Recap
Last Wednesday, November 13th, East Bay Housing Organizations held our Annual Membership Meeting & Celebration in Oakland.
Residents of affordable housing, developers, architects, contractors, funders, and passionate community members joined us to reflect on our wins of the year and look ahead to 2025.
Meet Our New Board of Directors
During our event, we voted to elect this year’s slate of new Board Members who will bring a wealth of knowledge and experiences to EBHO leadership. Congratulations to Lyn Hikida, Teslim Ikharo, Brianne Steinhauser, and Renee-Marie Telefoni, East Bay Housing Organizations’ newly elected Board Members!
Additionally, William Goodwin and Donna Griggs-Murphy were re-elected to their third terms on the Board, and Kevin Leichner and Lauline Mitchell were re-elected to their second terms.
We also said goodbye and honored several Board members at the end of their service. Two Board Members stepped off of the Board because of exciting life/professional changes: Councilmember Peggy McQuaid who has been elected to the Albany City Council, and Linda Colman who had an incredible change in employment which unfortunately means she is no longer working at an organization that serves the East Bay.
We thanked Board President Hang Mosier, previous Board VP Vanna Whitney, Board Treasurer Felix AuYeung, and Shawn Johnson for supporting EBHO over the past 6 years as Board members. They have reached their term limits, and while we say farewell to them as board members we look forward to continuing to work with them as Members and partners in this fight for housing justice.
Thank you to all Board Members past and present for your service. It was great seeing so many familiar faces, including some former Board Members from previous decades, at our Annual Membership Meeting & Celebration last week!
Program Highlights
Last week, attendees also got a first look at our upcoming end-of-year report. EBHO’s Suburban Organizer, Davina Srioudom, and Senior Campaign Strategy Associate, Angelina Cornejo, provided a snapshot of the past year’s work.
We are incredibly proud of the collective and individual growth of the EBHO team this year, as well as our impact on policy and campaigns at the local, regional, and state levels, in Oakland, Concord, and beyond.
We also graduated the newest cohort of our Leadership Academy program, congratulations class of 2024! Applications for the 2025 Leadership Academy session will open next week.
This is only a snapshot of some of our work. Keep an eye on your inbox in January for a more in-depth end-of-year recap of our impact in 2024.
40 Years, 40 Voices
40 Years, 40 Voices: Stories from EBHO’s Four Decades of Housing Justice Advocacy is a series of short videos highlighting the people who make EBHO special and who contributed to the powerful legacy we share.
In addition to the short videos we’ve been posting on our social media channels, we also created longer versions of the videos featuring some of EBHO’s founders and first members, Board members, as well as a compilation of all 40 videos we collected.
