Affordable Housing Month 2025

Each May, East Bay Housing Organizations joins our partners across the Bay Area to host Affordable Housing Month.

Affordable Housing Month is an opportunity to come together to build support for affordable housing and racial justice and educate our communities on how affordable housing benefits us all.

Continuing on the previous year’s 40th Anniversary theme, “Powerful Legacy, Powerful Future”, in 2025 we were excited to share lessons learned from leaders who came before us and look ahead to the future of housing justice in the East Bay and beyond.

Events Calendar

For two years in a row, a record-setting 30+ events were held throughout the month of May!

Events took place across the East Bay and range from resident panel discussions, groundbreakings and grand openings, film screenings, and more! Educational webinars covered topics such as affordable housing finance, housing elements, building green housing, and faith-based organizing for affordable housing.

Thanks to our generous funding partners and Affordable Housing Month Sponsors, most Affordable Housing Month events were free and open to the public.

980 Freeway Drop-in Site Visit hosted by CalTrans.

Affordable Housing Month Kickoff Celebration

Our 2025 Affordable Housing Heroes

EBHO celebrated our 2025 Housing Heroes—The San Francisco Foundation and Alameda County Supervisor Elisa Marquez. We also took a moment to honor the legacy of our beloved housing heroes who are no longer with us—Rev. Phil Lawson, Ms. Francine Williams, and Ms. Melody Parker—whose contributions have made lasting impacts on the housing justice movement.
